Weekend Round Up: New Releases From Kaleo and The Killers

But until that magical day when we return to the podcasting airwaves, we couldn’t resist talking music shop with the world. We’re sharing a few of the new songs that came out this past weekend that we couldn’t get enough of! Read on below to hear some of co-host Katarina’s favorites of the moment!
“Caution” By The Killers
If there’s one thing and one thing only that could cheer me up in this turbulent time, it’s new music from The Killers. “Caution” is a dreamy, summer song about throwing caution to the wind in pursuit of something, anything, else. Brandon Flowers has always been a bit of a poet and a storyteller in his lyrics, and this is a true return to form. Maybe it’s the quarantine-cabin-fever talking, but the lyric “If I don't get out, out of this town/I just might be the one who finally burns it down” resonated within my very bones. It’s a danceable, fun mental escape from the world seeming going to hell around us in a handbasket. I can’t recommend this song enough.
“Alter Ego” By Kaleo
I’ve been eagerly waiting for new music from Kaleo since they put out the singles “I Want More” and “Break My Baby.” The Icelandinc Rock/Blues/Folk singers do not disappoint with this absolute banger of a track, evocative of everything I admire and miss about what American rock used to sound like. Kaleo pulls no punches here, producing an anthemic rock ballad worthy of the 70s. I would die for their guitar solos, honestly. And of course, no vocals can really compare to those of JJ Julius Son, who really gets to shine on this track. If “Alter Ego” is any indication, their new album Surface Sounds is going to be incredible.
